Abby Schafer, 18, Aurora, Illinois
Metea Valley High School (Aurora, Ill.)
Abby began her dance career at a small, local dance studio in Sammamish, Washington. Upon moving to Illinois, she then took her passion to Steps Dance Center, where she spent 9 years learning from some of her most influential mentors, including Lizzie Mackenzie. When the opportunity arose, Abby graciously became a part of Lizzie’s Extensions family.
While, sadly, this is her third and final year at the company, she has established relationships with her teachers and fellow dancers that have taught her an immense amount about the artform as well as life in general. Abby has a few interests other than dance, namely; drawing, playing piano, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music.
As a senior in high school, Abby intends to go to college with a major in dance. Despite the amount of stress and preparation needed to find the perfect college, she is very excited to pursue dance in the professional setting. Abby would not feel as eager to take her first steps into the professional dance community had Extensions not been in her life, therefore, she would like to thank each member of the Extensions family for helping in her preparation for the future. Abby owes her successes and achievements to all these incredible faculty and dancers at the company, as they have truly shaped who she is today. As the year goes on, she will continue to enjoy her final days at Extensions, knowing that it will always hold a special place in her heart.
